Black marble Italian pietra dura bird plaque. Circa 1980s. Beautiful inlay of colorful bird on a branch. Signature Scarpelli. Minor imperfections due to age and use. 

Pietra Dura is a term for the inlay technique of using cut and fitted, highly-polished colored stones to create images. The technique first appeared in Rome in the 16th century.
